2012 wishes

On a long enough time line, the survival rate for everyone drops to zero.

That’s the Narrator — not Tyler — in Fight Club.

And this is Keynes in A Tract on Monetary Reform (not The General Theory):

The long run is a misleading guide to current affairs. In the long run we are all dead. Economists set themselves too easy, too useless a task if in tempestuous seasons they can only tell us that when the storm is past the ocean is flat again.

Meanwhile, Khayyam had this to say:

Ah, make the most of what we yet may spend,

Before we too into the Dust descend;

Dust into Dust, and under Dust, to lie,

Sans Wine, sans Song, sans Singer, and—sans End!

Hmm.  I guess here is to avoiding this.

Here is to Stayin’ Alive in 2012.
